The Whiteshell Snowmobile Club (WSC) was formed in 1991 by a group of
individuals who were interested in partnering with Manitoba Conservation to
improve the grooming and warm up shelters within Whiteshell Provincial
Park.  At the time many of the trails were two‐way trails (with the exception of
the trail that existed between Rennie and Falcon), and the warm up shelters were

three‐sided shelters that had been later closed in along the front.
Snowmobiling was increasing in popularity in the Province and there were
record numbers of snowmobilers choosing the Whiteshell for riding.

In June of 1991, members of the WSC learned that Manitoba Conservation
was contemplating ceasing all grooming within Whiteshell Provincial
Park due to decreased government funding.  WSC Members arranged
meetings with local Conservation staff and eventually met with the
government in power at that time.  After several meetings an agreement
was made where Manitoba Conservation would continue with the
maintenance and grooming of the trails and the WSC would replace the aging
shelters and assist with the signing of the lakes.  As a result of the partnership
most of the trails have been twinned and eight log shelters have been
constructed (Mud, Edgar, Elma, Red Rock, Swamp, Beauchemin, Betula &
Eleanor).  Rescue sleighs have also been added to the trail system at West
Hawk, Red Rock and Nutimik Lakes, as well as town sites of Rennie and Seven
Sisters.  It is because of this unique partnership that we can offer you some of
the best, and safest, trails and shelters in Canada!
